In this edition of Founder Spotlight, we’re featuring Scott Trumpolt, a seasoned HR expert and the founder of Trumpolt Compensation Design Solutions. With over 30 years of experience leading compensation strategy across the U.S., Europe, and Asia, Scott now helps growing companies design compensation systems that are fair, compliant, and customized to their workforce. His deep HR knowledge paired with AI innovation is helping companies scale smarter.
What does your business do, and what inspired you to start it?
At Trumpolt Compensation Design Solutions, I help companies align their pay practices with their business strategy. Whether it’s creating salary structures, incentive plans, or addressing pay equity, the goal is always to design systems that are both competitive and compliant.
After decades of working in large global companies, I saw firsthand how smaller or fast-growing firms often struggle with compensation. They don’t have the time, tools, or internal expertise to build pay systems that support scale. I wanted to fix that—to make enterprise-grade comp design accessible to mid-size companies.
What has been the biggest challenge in your entrepreneurial journey, and how did you overcome it?
The biggest challenge has been translating something as complex and sensitive as compensation into a clear, approachable service offering. Compensation isn’t just numbers—it’s emotions, trust, and culture.
Early on, I realized I had to do more than offer “consulting.” I needed to productize the process—clear packages, predictable timelines, and transparent pricing. That helped prospects understand what they were getting and gave me a repeatable way to deliver value. I also leaned on digital tools to streamline everything from job benchmarking to comp plan modeling.
Where do you see AI making the biggest impact in your industry over the next five years?
AI is going to be a game-changer for HR and compensation. Imagine being able to instantly analyze pay equity across roles, model the cost of a raise cycle, or predict how a new bonus plan might impact performance—all with AI doing the heavy lifting.
Over the next five years, I see AI taking on more of the analytical grunt work. That means HR leaders will be able to focus more on decision-making and less on data crunching. Compensation will become more dynamic, data-informed, and personalized.
How has Vengo AI helped your business capture leads and grow sales?
Vengo AI has been a huge asset. I work with CEOs and HR leaders who are busy and often visit the website after hours. Vengo helps engage them instantly, answer questions, and even pre-qualify leads before I ever get involved.
Since launching the AI agent, I’ve seen a significant increase in conversations converting into consultations. The numbers don’t lie—Vengo AI users collect email leads in 77% of conversations and phone numbers in 57% of chats. It’s like having a smart assistant who works 24/7—and never forgets to follow up.
What advice would you give to other founders looking to integrate AI into their businesses?
Start simple. Don’t worry about building some futuristic AI empire. Ask yourself, “Where am I losing time or missing opportunities?” That’s where AI can help first.
For me, it was lead capture and qualification. Vengo made it easy to train the agent to speak in my tone and represent my brand. Now it feels like part of my team.
Also—track your results. The data Vengo provides helps me refine my messaging and better understand what visitors care about. That’s the hidden value of AI: insight, not just automation.
